“On Target” Scores a Bullseye!

Competitors took aim at their targets while strains by Sousa, Holst, Wagner, Rodgers and more filled the Mountain Valley Sportsmans Association shotgun range.  Clever competitors timed their shotgun reports to the music of Tchaikowsky’s “1812 Overture!”

Grand prize winners James Teat, Mike Miller, Dave Pruitt and Don Webb each took home a 2012 Music Festival Pass, a St. Croix Triumph Spinning rod, and a beautiful hand-crafted pen carved by Jason Spavins.  All competitors were entered in a drawing and took home Music Festival CD’s, DVD’s, t-shirts and more.hand crafted pen by Jason Spavins

Honorable mention went to Nils Becker of Bochum, Germany, an exchange student hosted by HSMF board member Tanya Savins, who despite never shooting before hit an impressive 15 of 25 targets and placed 5th in the contest!  Congratulations again to Nils!

The day was a total success.  Veteran trapshooters exhibited their skill, won prizes and mentored first time shooters.  Participants new to trapshooting enjoyed new challenges and camaraderie, and the Music Festival gained new fans, several of whom now think all trapshoots should be accompanied by classical music!

Keep your eyes and ears open for a second trapshooting contest in support of the Music Festival in early Spring 2012.
