Festival Brass perform the Opening FanfareSeason Seventeen, “The Spice of Life,” puts the “HOT” in Hot Springs Music Festival!  The opening Fanfare will take place Sunday 3 June at 6:45 p.m. on the steps of the Arlington Resort Hotel & Spa, 239 Central Avenue.  Following shortly after, at 7:30 p.m., the Cassatt String Quartet will perform the Festival’s Opening Concert inside the Arlington Crystal Ballroom.

The Opening Fanfare will be conducted by Festival General Director Todd Cranson and will feature Brass and Percussion in three short works.  This free performance in a beautiful and festive outdoor setting will welcome all to the beginning of the two week Music Festival!

Acclaimed as one of America’s outstanding ensembles, the Cassatt String Quartet brings to Hot Springs almost thirty years of experience performing together.  Their opening concert will feature works by Antonín Dvořák, Claude Debussy, a work by Sebastian Currier which was written specifically for the Cassatt Quartet, and the world premiere of Stefan Pöntinen’s “Quartet No. 3.”

“We are extremely excited to have such a fine ensemble joining us this year,” says Cranson. “They are one of the most prominent string quartets in the country, and they have attracted many very fine string players to this year’s Festival.”

Tickets for the Cassatt String Quartet Opening Concert are $15 and are available at the door or by calling the Festival office.

These opening night events kick off two weeks of world-class music making in the Spa City, June 3-16.  The Festival features over 20 concerts, 250 free, open rehearsals, and more!  For more information or to purchase tickets, call (501) 623-4763 or visit www.hotmusic.org.
