Lynn Payette, director of music at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and adjunct music faculty member at National Park Community College, has been appointed chorus director of the Hot Springs Music Festival Chorus. She will succeed Laura Rosenberg, the Chorus’ founding director.
A native of Wheaton IL, Payette graduated with performing and academic honors from Illinois Wesleyan and Illinois State Universities. She studied conducting with David Nott and was mentored in conducting and song-leading by Alice Parker.
Since moving to Hot Springs in 1999, Payette has been actively involved in the Music Festival as a performer, an associate choral conductor, and as a rehearsal accompanist. She has prepared children’s and youth choruses for Festival performances in Mahler’s Symphony No. 3, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, and most recently for Mendelssohn’s Elijah.
She also collaborated with Rosenberg in the preparation of several off-season choral presentations, including Ramirez’ Misa Criolla and the choral music of Dave Brubeck. Payette has prepared choirs and conducted major choral works in the Chicago area, Dallas,TX and London, England.
Under her direction, the St. Luke’s Parish Choir has toured England twice and sung, by invitation, at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC.
The Hot Springs Music Festival welcomes Lynn Payette to her new role!
