Lynn Payette, chorus director

LYNN PAYETTE was appointed Festival Chorus Director in 2011.  A native of Wheaton, Illinois she graduated with performing and academic honors from Illinois Wesleyan and Illinois State Universities. She studied choral conducting with Dr David Nott and has been mentored in conducting and song-leading by Alice Parker. She works extensively with singers of all ages.

Lynn has prepared choirs and conducted major choral works in the Chicago area, Dallas, and London, England. Since moving to Hot Springs, Lynn has been actively involved in the Music Festival as a performer, an associate choral conductor, rehearsal accompanist, and now Festival Chorus Director.

For the Music Festival, she has prepared children and youth choruses for performances in Mahler Symphony 3, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, and most recently Mendelssohn’ Elijah. In collaboration with Laura Rosenberg, Lynn assisted in the preparation and presentation of several off-season choral events, including the Misa Criolla of Ariel Ramirez and the choral music of Dave Brubeck.

Lynn Payette moved to Hot Springs in 1999 to serve as Director of Music at St Luke’s Episcopal Church, where she coordinates a wide range of ages and musical ensembles. The St Luke’s Parish Choir has toured England twice and sung, by invitation, at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC.  The St Luke’s Choir and the National Park College Singers have often collaborated to present major choral works, including the Requiems of Rutter, Duruflé, and Fauré.

In collaboration with the Hot Springs-Arkadelphia Chamber Orchestra, Lynn has presented choral works by Bach and Mozart, and served as the conductor for the annual Sing Along Messiah.
